Flatten · Plugin for Rhino 8
From the last to a true base pattern.
Flatten turns a 3D last into a measured 2D base pattern — built for orthopaedic, asymmetric lasts, where standard flattening fails.

Your lines
The seam and centre lines you draw on the last decide the result.

Hours
not days, from the last to the base pattern.
The problem
On an orthopaedic last, the true centre line is curved.
Systems built for symmetric production lasts assume a straight front centre line. On a deformed last the pattern distorts — and the master measures everything again by hand.

What it does
Built for lasts that aren’t standard.
Flattening along your lines
The seam and centre lines you draw on the last define the flattening — not an automatic line in the wrong place.
Accuracy as numbers
Every result comes with length and area checks, not with “roughly”.
Separated the way the craft does it
Front and back, inside and outside can be handled separately.
Points and lines between 3D and 2D
Transfer points and lines from the last to the pattern and back.
1:1 print or straight on in Pattern Digitizer
Print the base pattern on paper and draw your model the usual way — or continue digitally in Pattern Digitizer.

Yes. The lines you draw always win over automatic ones. No workflow is forced on you.
-
That is normal in orthopaedics, and the plugins are built for it: both sides of a pair are handled together, and parts move to the opposite side with their assignments.
